Creative Advertising was established in 1978. We moved from
London
to Eastbourne in 1979 and were in South Street until
May 2008, when
we moved to Hyde Gardens.
In the 1970s and until the 1990s our London clients included Prudential, Longmans and Oyez/Solicitors’ Law Stationery
Society. We also worked for 10 years for the Civil Service
Motoring Association (CSMA), based
in Brighton.
For many years, we ran our own Exhibition business with
workshops
off Lottbridge Drove doing roadshows, conference
stage sets, as well
as designing, building and installing exhibition stands. In recent years
we have confined ourselves to designing stands and putting the building and installation work out to local contractors. As well as for our photographic clients, we did exhibitions, conference stage sets
and roadshows for Prudential, Bosch, Cummins Diesels and GEC Alsthom Diesels in the UK
and mainland Europe.
When we first moved to Eastbourne, and for about 10 years, we
did
a great deal of work for local businesses, mainly advertising, including
TV and Radio commercials, but also corporate design.
Some of the company identities we created then are still being
used. We produced scripts for and designed TV commercials for
Sir Speedy, Photax,
Holmes & Leadbitter and Everley Kitchens (featuring ‘Bucks Fizz’).
(We still have them filed on tape!)
We were early members of the Publicity Association of Brighton
& Sussex in the late 70s and advertisements we produced for
one of our photographic clients won us the top Industrial and Commercial Display Advertisement Award in 1979/80, 1980/81
and 1981/82. We also won design awards for work we did for
Oyez and publishers McGraw Hill, and for local businesses:
the RR Ridley VW dealership and Eastbourne Town & Country
Taxi Service.
